The Vortex 86SX is one of the most advanced SoC, System on a Chip, products developed in many years. This chip is equivalent to a 486SX PC running at 300MHz. They have added several more advanced features like USB 2.0, PCI Bus support, and IDE Ultra 100. They have also added some features for the harsh environment, such as a fanless -40 ~ 85 degree C operating temperature, 3 PWM’s, 40 individually programmable I/O, and Redundancy for mission critical applications. Consuming less than one watt (1W) fully loaded will allow the chip to use less power, and produce less heat than other products in its class. At less than 1.1 inch square, the chip is as small as its price, less than $30 in single quantities. Best of all, it can be programed with standard low cost or free X86 languages, DOS, Linux, and Windows CE 6.0. Below, you will find a Block Diagram, Features, and a picture of the new chip.
